Fango e bugie non si risparmiano nemmeno a Natale. In Madagascar ci sono andato per vacanza e a vedere le straordinarie opere di padre Stefano Scaringella. Quindi ho ritenuto opportuno spiegarvi le cose come stanno e fare un po’ di santa controinformazione

Quante bugie nell’articolo de l’Espresso.
Cari amici e amiche,
confesso che avrei volentieri evitato questa risposta alla macchina del fango dell’Espresso.
Sull’ultimo numero il settimanale di Repubblica/De Benedetti ha pubblicato un indiscreto sulle mie vacanze natalizie.
Avevo deciso di non replicare convinto che, essendo una non notizia basata su falsità, non meritasse la dignità di una risposta. Invece da quelle poche righe è partita una vera e propria campagna mistificatrice sulla rete. Così ho deciso di togliermi qualche sassolino dalle scarpe scrivendo LA VERITA’ e lo faccio con voi, qui, perché credo che i miei amici, chi mi segue e chi mi stima anche se non condivide le mie idee, abbia il diritto di sapere la verità:
1. L’Espresso cita, spacciandole come mie dichiarazioni, un articoletto uscito su Il Giornale del 30 dicembre (lo trovate allegato) di cui sconoscevo l’esistenza.
2. Sono stato in Madagascar a trascorrere le mie vacanze, ma non ho mai detto a nessuno che avrei trascorso il mio soggiorno in capanne senza elettricità né, tantomeno, ho taciuto “perché non si pubblicizzano le opere di bene”.
3. Tutti i miei amici conoscevano la destinazione del mio viaggio e credo di aver diritto di poter trascorrere le mie vacanze dove voglio senza affiggere manifesti in giro per le città e senza dover chiedere preventivo permesso all’Espresso ne ad alcun altro, come ogni normale cittadino.
4. L’Espresso mi dà in partenza con mia moglie, due coppie di amici, e mia suocera. Capisco che è duro fare il mestiere dei giornalisti e verificare le notizie. Purtroppo mia suocera è morta e mia moglie, figlia unica che aveva già perso il padre, meriterebbe delle scuse per quest’assoluta mancanza di rispetto.
5. Ho alloggiato all’Andilana Beach Hotel, un villaggio quattro stelle sull’isola di Nosy Be frequentato da tantissimi italiani, commercializzato da Alpitour e il cui pacchetto di viaggio ho acquistato con i miei amici presso l’Agenzia Eden Viaggi. Non l’ho fatto di nascosto e non mi sono certo nascosto durante la vacanza.
Premesso tutto questo, ci tengo a sottolineare che la scelta del Madagascar e dell’isola di Nosy Be non è stata casuale. Mi sono recato lì perché avevo voglia di visitare (e le foto lo testimoniano), l’opera straordinaria di un frate missionario che ho conosciuto a Milano e che più volte mi aveva invitato a visitare il Madagascar e la sua opera: padre Stefano Scaringella. Il suo ospedale a Ambanja è un piccolo miracolo e la casa di accoglienza per bambine e bambini abbandonati commovente. Sono tornato insieme con i miei amici convinto che noi che abbiamo ricevuto tanto possiamo e dobbiamo dargli una mano.
Il fango lanciato contro di me mi dà l’occasione, e questo è sicuramente positivo, di farvi conoscere il suo lavoro e di chiedere a tutti voi, se ne avete la possibilità, di sostenerlo. Anche i giornalisti dell’Espresso possono fare la loro parte. Vi farò sapere nei prossimi giorni le modalità concrete.
