Il mio grazie alle donne si fa pertanto appello accorato, perché da parte di tutti, e in particolare da parte degli Stati e delle istituzioni internazionali, si faccia quanto è necessario per restituire alle donne il pieno rispetto della loro dignità e del loro ruolo. In proposito non posso non manifestare la mia ammirazione per le donne di buona volontà che si sono dedicate a difendere la dignità della condizione femminile attraverso la conquista di fondamentali diritti sociali, economici e politici, e ne hanno preso coraggiosa iniziativa in tempi in cui questo loro impegno veniva considerato un atto di trasgressione, un segno di mancanza di femminilità, una manifestazione di esibizionismo, e magari un peccato.
