Il Meeting di Rimini rilancia l’attenzione sui cristiani perseguitati a causa della loro fede. Ecco l’appello e dove firmarlo.
Come ho già detto in altri post, la difesa della libertà dei cristiani di professare pubblicamente la loro fede senza doverne sopportare conseguenze (è inammissibile che per partecipare alla vita pubblica del proprio Paese un cristiano debba mettere da parte la cosa più cara che ha: la sua fede, – disse Benedetto XVI all’Onu) non è la salvaguardia di un privilegio ma la battaglia per la libertà di tutti.
Nel suo messaggio per la Giornata missionaria mondiale 2013, Papa Francesco aveva scritto:
“Un pensiero infine ai cristiani che, in varie parti del mondo, si trovano in difficoltà nel professare apertamente la propria fede e nel vedere riconosciuto il diritto a viverla dignitosamente. Sono nostri fratelli e sorelle, testimoni coraggiosi – ancora più numerosi dei martiri nei primi secoli – che sopportano con perseveranza apostolica le varie forme attuali di persecuzione.
Non pochi rischiano anche la vita per rimanere fedeli al Vangelo di Cristo. Desidero assicurare che sono vicino con la preghiera alle persone, alle famiglie e alle comunità che soffrono violenza e intolleranza e ripeto loro le parole consolanti di Gesù: Coraggio, io ho vinto il mondo (Gv 16,33)”.

Il Meeting di Rimini raccoglie quest’appello per i cristiani che “sono minacciati, attaccati fisicamente e uccisi in molti Paesi. I cristiani sono anche oggetto di discriminazioni nei più diversi modi anche in quei Paesi dove ha libero campo ed esercita una egemonia culturale un nichilismo incapace di accettare chi, in un clima di autentico pluralismo, voglia far riferimento a un ideale, a una religione, a una fede”.
